I do not know if it’s me being old fashioned, but I don’t think you can beat holding a well designed, well printed brochure, pamphlet, flyer or information sheet in your hand.

I know, I know I can hear you all sayng; “Well at least with electronic you can view it there and then”. That’s all well and good if you are in the comfort of your home, but I do believe that if people have taken the effort to leave their homes the least you should give these potential customers is something to take away with them to look through at their leisure.

It’s much the same when it comes to direct mail, peoples email inboxes are now so crammed full of rubbish ironically it is now more eye-catching for something to drop through the letterbox than appear in the inbox. The perceived value of these printed items can also sometimes help to sway people when making a decision, and of course they are also a very useful tool to drive people to a well designed, informative and easy to use website where the electronic realm comes into it’s own.

Thank you for reading my rant (sorry blog) and I would be interested to hear your opinions - you never know you might be able change my view, after all this is my very first blog entry!

So if anybody out there in computer land would like to champion the electronic format, please feel free to join in…

So what do you think!?!? Post us a reply below...

Electronic V Paper

Mark, you raise some good points. Paper will never completely be be replaced. However, in these fast modern times the speed and power of electronic communications will mean this is demanded in business. Plus when this speed is combined with better localised colour office printers (probably about 5-10 years away) this picture could change considerably.

Sure, an office printer will never replace the quality of litho, but I believe in the future people will not wait and pay extra for that level of quality? Why should they!

Print fans, let's here you if you don't agree.
